What is Sambucus Nigra?
Sambucus Nigra, also known by different names such as Black Elderberry, European Elderberry, Melesir, and Mindira, is a light brown or gray tree species that grows up to 4-10 meters tall and has red fruits.
In Turkey, Sambucus Nigra is frequently found in Zigana forests around Trabzon in Northern Anatolia, in spruce and hornbeam forests around Erzincan and Refahiye, around Bolu, Düzce, and Lake Abant, in the Marmara Region around Izmit and Adapazari, and in damp stream beds and slopes in Central Anatolia.
A total of 180 patients participated in an analysis conducted to investigate the effect of Black Elderberry, scientifically known as Sambucus Nigra, on upper respiratory tract infection symptoms, and 4 different clinical studies were compiled.
