Dana Spot-on belongs to the insectoacaricidal preparations of the phenylpyrazole group.
Fipronil, which is part of the drug, has pronounced insectoacaricidal activity against preimaginal and imaginal phases of development of fleas (Stenocephalides canis, Stenocephalides felis), lice (Linognatus setotus), lice (Trichodectes canis), sarcoptic (Sarcoptes canis, Sarcoptes vulpis, Notoedres cati, Otodectes cynotis, Psoroptes cuniculi), ixodid (Ixodes ricinus, Rhipicephalus sanguineus, Dermacentor reticulatus, Ixodes scapularis, Dermacentor variabilis) and demodectic (Demodex canis) ticks.
Mechanism of action fipronil is to block GABA-dependent receptors of arthropods, disrupting the transmission of nerve impulses, which leads to paralysis and death of insects and ticks.
After applying the drug to the skin, fipronil, practically without being absorbed into the systemic bloodstream, spreads through the skin and hair of the animal, accumulates in the epidermis, hair follicles and sebaceous glands, providing a contact insectoacaricidal effect, which appears after 12-24 hours and lasts for 4-6 weeks after a single treatment of the animal.
For the treatment and prevention of entomoses, as well as to protect the pet from the attack of ixodid ticks, the drug is used to animals once by drop application to dry, intact skin in places inaccessible to licking (the area of the back between the shoulder blades or the area of the neck at the base of the skull), selecting a pipette of the required volume, taking into account the type and weight of the animal being treated, in the doses indicated in the table in the instructions.

Фипронил, входящий в состав лекарственного препарата, обладает выраженной инсектоакарицидной активностью в отношении преимагинальных и имагинальных фаз развития блох (Stenocephalides canis, Stenocephalides felis) вшей (Linognatus setotus), власоедов (Trichodectes canis), саркоптоидных (Sarcoptes canis, Sarcoptes vulpis, Notoedres cati, Otodectes cynotis, Psoroptes cuniculi), иксодовых (Ixodes ricinus, Rhipicephalus sanguineus, Dermacentor reticulatus, Ixodes scapularis, Dermacentor variabilis) и демодекозных (Demodex canis) клещей.
Механизм действия фипронила заключается в блокировании ГАМК-зависимых рецепторов членистоногих, нарушении передачи нервных импульсов, что приводит к параличу и гибели насекомых и клещей.
После нанесения препарата на кожу фипронил, практически не всасываясь в системный кровоток, распространяется по кожно-волосяному покрову животного, накапливается в эпидермисе, волосяных луковицах и сальных железах, оказывая контактное инсектоакарицидное действие, которое проявляется через 12-24 часа и продолжается на протяжении 4-6 недель после однократной обработки животного.
Для лечения и профилактики энтомозов, а также защиты питомца от нападения иксодовых клещей препарат применяют животным однократно путем капельного нанесения на сухую неповрежденную кожу в места, недоступные для слизывания (область спины между лопатками или область шеи у основания черепа), выбирая пипетку необходимого объема с учетом вида и массы обрабатываемого животного в дозах, указанных в таблице в инструкции.
