Gelmimax is prescribed to dogs and cats for prophylactic and therapeutic purposes for nematodosis (toxocariasis, toxascariasis, uncinariasis, trichuriasis, ancylostomiasis), cestodiasis (taeniasis, dipylidiasis, echinococcosis, diphyllobothriasis, alveococcosis, mesocestoidosis) and mixed nematode-cestodial invasions, as well as for the prevention of dirofilariasis.br/br/The combination of praziquantel and moxidectin, which are part of the drug, provides a wide spectrum of its anthelmintic action on gastrointestinal nematodes (Toxocara canis, Toxocara cati (Toxocara mistax), Toxascaris leonina, Uncinaria stenocephala, Trichuris vulpis, Ancylostoma caninum) and cestodes (Echinococcus granulosus, Alveococus multilocularis, Mesocestoides lineatus, Dipylidium caninum, Diphyllobotrium latum, Multiceps multiceps) parasitizing dogs and cats. br/br/Praziquantel is a compound of the pyrazinoisoquinoline group, active against gastrointestinal cestodes at all stages of development. By increasing the permeability of the parasite's cell membranes to calcium ions (Ca2+), it causes membrane depolarization, muscle contraction, and destruction of the tegument, which leads to the death of helminths and facilitates their elimination from the animal's body. The compound is rapidly absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract, reaching its maximum plasma concentration within 1–3 hours, reversibly binds to serum proteins (70–80%), is partially metabolized in the liver, re-excreted into the intestine, and is excreted from the body mainly in the urine (up to 80%) within 24 hours. br/br/Moxidectin is obtained from chemically modified nemadectin, a fermentation product of Streptomyces cyanogriseus noncyanogenus, and is a semi-synthetic compound from the milbemycin group. br/br/Moxidectin has an antiparasitic effect against nematodes and arachnoentomoses. Its main targets are glutamate-sensitive chloride channels and gamma-aminobutyric acid receptors. Changes in the flow of chloride ions disrupt the conduction of nerve impulses, which leads to paralysis and death of the parasite.br/br/The drug is administered to animals orally individually, during the morning feeding with a small amount of food, or is forcibly administered to the root of the tongue.

Основной его мишенью являются глютамат-чувствительные хлорные каналы, а также рецепторы гамма-аминомасляной кислоты. Изменение тока ионов хлора нарушает проведение нервных импульсов, что приводит к параличу и гибели паразита.br/br/Лекарственный препарат применяют животным перорально индивидуально, в утреннее кормление с небольшим количеством корма или вводят принудительно на корень языка.
