Arishta is a traditional Armenian homemade noodle dish. The word "arishta" translates as "ribbon," so it's no surprise that these long, narrow strips of baked dough were named just that. Arishta is made with only flour, water, and salt, making it ideal for Lenten dishes. Strictly speaking, there are two types of arishta noodles: one is sweet, used to make halva. Sweet arishta resembles brushwood in honey syrup. Unsweetened vil is used to make soups or main courses. Add salt to boiling water, then add the arishta, cook for 7-10 minutes, and strain.
