Alben C has a broad-spectrum anthelmintic effect on all stages of development of roundworms and tapeworms, including Toxocara canis, Toxocara cati, Toxascaris leonina, Uncinaria stenocephala, Ancylostoma caninum, Taenia spp., Echinococcus granulosus, Echinococcus multilocularis, Dipylidium caninum, Diphyllobothrium latum, Multiceps multiceps, and Mesocestoides spp., which parasitize small domestic animals. The mechanism of action of albendazole and praziquantel, which are components of the drug, is based on the disruption of glucose transport and microtubule function of the parasite, the inhibition of fumarate reductase activity and ATP synthesis, and increased permeability of cell membranes, which leads to disruption of neuromuscular innervation, paralysis, and death of the parasite. Alben C belongs to a group of compounds with low toxicity for warm-blooded animals.

At recommended doses, it has no embryotoxic, teratogenic, or sensitizing effects. It is well tolerated by dogs and cats of various breeds and ages. It is prescribed for the prophylactic and therapeutic treatment of nematodosis (toxocariasis, toxascariasis, uncinariasis, ancylostomiasis, trichuriasis) and cestodiasis (dipylidiasis, echinococcosis, diphyllobothriasis, mesocestoidiasis, and other taeniasis) in dogs and cats.

CONTRAINDICATIONS Alben C should not be used by lactating or pregnant females, puppies under 3 weeks of age, or kittens under 3 months of age.

Alben C is given to animals individually once during the morning feeding with a small amount of food (water), or is administered forcibly to animals weighing 2.5 kg or more, at a rate of 1 tablet per 5 kg of animal weight. For cats and small dogs, 1 tablet is crushed, suspended in 10 ml of water, shaken vigorously, and immediately administered to the animal orally using a syringe without a needle, at a rate of 1 ml of suspension per 0.5 kg of animal weight. A preliminary fasting diet and the use of laxatives are not required. For prophylactic purposes, animals are dewormed quarterly at the above-mentioned dose.

Механизм действия входящих в состав препарата альбендазола и празиквантела основан на нарушении транспорта глюкозы и микротубулярной функции паразита, угнетении активности фумарат-редуктазы и синтеза АТФ, повышении проницаемости клеточных мембран, что приводит к нарушению нервно-мышечной иннервации, параличу и гибели паразита. Альбен С относится к группе малотоксичных для теплокровных животных соединений, в рекомендуемых дозах не оказывает эмбриотоксического, тератогенного и сенсибилизирующего действия. Хорошо переносится собаками и кошками разных пород и возрастов.

Назначают с профилактической и лечебной целью при нематодозах (токсокароз, токсаскаридоз, унцинариоз, анкилостомоз, трихоцефалез) и цестодозах (дипилидиоз, эхинококкоз, дифиллоботриоз, мезоцестоидоз и другие тениидозы) собак и кошек. ПРОТИВОПОКАЗАНИЯ Альбен С не следует применять кормящим и беременным самкам, щенкам моложе 3-недельного возраста и котятам моложе 3-месячного возраста.

Альбен С задают животным однократно, индивидуально в утреннее кормление с небольшим количеством корма (воды) или вводят принудительно животным массой 2,5 кг и более, из расчета 1 таблетка на 5 кг массы животного. Кошкам и мелким собакам 1 таблетку измельчают, суспензируют в 10 мл воды, интенсивно взбалтывают и тотчас вводят животному внутрь при помощи шприца без иглы, из расчета 1 мл суспензии на 0,5 кг массы животного. Предварительной голодной диеты и применения слабительных средств не требуется. С профилактической целью животных дегельминтизируют ежеквартально в вышеуказанной дозе.
