How to Cook Pearled Barley

1 Cup Dry Pearled Barley

3 Cups Water

Bring 3 cups water to a boil in a saucepan. Add 1 cup dried pearled barley, and reduce heat. Simmer until tender, about 15-20 minutes.

Pearled Barley Soup

2 lb beef chuck, cubed 3/4 C dry red wine 3 tbs olive oil 6 C beef broth 1 onion, diced 1 tbs Worcestershire sauce 2 ribs celery, diced 3 sprigs thyme 4 carrots, diced 1 C pearled barley 3 tbs garlic, minced
Heat pot to medium heat, add olive oil. Sear beef. Set beef to side and add vegetables and garlic. Saute 5 min. Add red wine, reduce by half. Add remaining ingredients, and beef back to pot. Simmer 45 min Add barley and simmer until tender.
