Ginkgo biloba(Temple tree)is a completely unique tree with no surviving species or similar species. Botanists classify it as a separate division (Ginkgophyta) within the Plantae kingdom. This division contains a single class (Ginkgoopsida), a single order (Ginkgoales) within the class, a single family (Ginkgoaceae) within the order, a single genus (Ginkgo) within the family, and a single species (Ginkgo biloba) within the genus. Ginkgos are medium- to large-sized deciduous trees that reach heights of 20-35 meters (some ginkgoes in China exceed 50 meters). Their tops are often angular, and their leaves are long and scattered. Their roots are generally deep and resistant to damage from wind and snow. It is the only tree in Japan to survive the atomic bomb disaster. It contains flavone glycosides, diterpenes, and flavonoids.
Royal jellyis a substance secreted from the pharyngeal glands of 5-15-day-old worker bees. It has a creamy-white color with a fluid gel-like consistency. It has a sour taste and a sharp phenolic odor. Royal jelly is the food of the queen bee and its larvae, and its nutritional value is quite high. Although queen and worker bees have the same genetic makeup when they hatch, feeding them different amounts of royal jelly for six days during the larval stage causes their biological structures to differ.
