Varroa mites
What are the benefits of Varro Red on bees? What are the effects of Varroa mites? How should they be controlled?
Varroa mites, also known as bee lice, are the most harmful external parasites to bees. While the bee is collecting nectar from a flower, a Varroa mite attaches itself to the bee and moves into the hive via the bee. While the queen lays eggs in the cells, the Varroa mites also lay eggs in the cells. While worker bee cells contain 1-2 varroa eggs, drone cells contain 5-10.
Because this creature develops earlier than the bee cells, it not only affects the larva's food intake but also the development of the developing bee larva, damaging its wings and body. This causes many diseases in bees. When varroa mites are present in the hive, the hatched bees are either disabled or dead. This is because drone cells contain more food.

If Varroa is not treated promptly and effectively, it will quickly lead to the hive dying out. There are organic and chemical methods for Varroa control. Organic pesticides, which can be used especially during the honey season, are recommended. However, for effective treatment, chemical pesticides should also be used outside the honey season. Care should be taken to ensure that these chemicals are specifically licensed.
