What are Live Cultures?
Live cultures refer to microorganisms such as bacteria and beneficial yeast. From the day we are born live microorganisms take up residence in our body, and come together to make up our gut microflora. There are trillions of live bacteria in the human gastrointestinal tract, both those which are beneficial, and those which can be harmful. Harmony and balance between the ‘good’ and ‘bad’ bacteria in the body is essential to the digestive system. A number of factors can compromise the optimum balance between the good and potentially harmful bacteria in the body, such as antibiotics, stress, an unhealthy lifestyle, poor diet, and foreign travel. BIOGLAN Biotic Balance products are packed with billions of live cultures to help keep the favourable balance.
Research suggests that a combination of different species of good bacteria rather than a single species on its own is most effective. The live cultures used in BIOGLAN Biotic Balance are a combination of the two well researched species, Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium. BIOGLAN Biotic Balance capsules also combine the beneficial yeast Saccharomyces boulardii.
