Glucose is one of the most easily digestible sugars. It is readily absorbed into the bloodstream, and excess glucose is transported to the liver and muscles, where it is converted into glycogen.

With intravenous administration of a hypertonic glucose solution, the osmotic pressure of the blood increases, the flow of fluid from tissues into the blood is enhanced, metabolic processes are enhanced, the detoxifying function of the liver is improved, the contractility of the heart muscle is enhanced, blood vessels dilate, and diuresis increases.
Toxic infections, infectious diseases, various intoxications (poisoning with drugs, hydrocyanic acid and its salts, carbon monoxide, aniline, arsenic hydrogen and other substances), liver diseases (hepatitis, cirrhosis, dystrophy and atrophy of the liver), cardiac decompensation, pulmonary edema, hemorrhagic diathesis and many other pathological conditions. In ruminants, it is prescribed for gastrointestinal diseases with intoxication, hypotension, atony of the forestomachs, as well as acetonemia, postpartum hemoglobinuria, ketonuria and toxemia. Glucose solutions are prescribed to weak and emaciated animals as an energy and dietary supplement.
Isotonic (5%) glucose solutions are administered subcutaneously and intravenously. The dose and duration of administration depend on the animal's weight and the progress of the disease.

Глюкоза — один из наиболее легко усвояемых сахаров. Она хорошо всасывается в кровь, а избыток ее поступает в печень и мышцы, где превращается в гликоген. При внутривенном введении гипертонического раствора глюкозы повышается осмотическое давление крови, усиливается ток жидкости из тканей в кровь, повышаются процессы обмена, улучшается дезинтоксикационная функция печени, усиливается сократительная деятельность сердечной мышцы, расширяются сосуды, увеличивается диурез.
Токсикоинфекции, инфекционные заболевания, различные интоксикации (отравления наркотиками, синильной кислотой и ее солями, окисью углерода, анилином, мышьяковистым водородом и другими веществами), заболевания печени (гепатит, цирроз, дистрофия и атрофия печени), декомпенсация сердечной деятельности, отек легких, геморрагический диатез и многие другие патологические состояния. У жвачных животных назначают при желудочно-кишечных заболеваниях с явлениями интоксикации, гипотонии, атонии преджелудков, а также при ацетонемии, послеродовой гемоглобинурии, кетонурии и токсемии. Растворы глюкозы назначают слабым и истощенным животным как энергетическое и диетическое средство.
Изотонический (5%) раствор глюкозы вводят подкожно и внутривенно. Объем дозы и сроки применения зависят от массы животного и течения болезни.
