Among coffee-producing countries, Ethiopia is considered the "birthplace" of Arabica coffee.
Arabica coffee originated in the high plateaus of Ethiopia, where people still harvest wild coffee berries today. Therefore, Ethiopian coffee contains more genetic material than other coffee-growing countries. The result of this genetic richness and originality is, as you can imagine, excellent.
Today, Ethiopian coffees are among the most diverse and distinguished in the world. Most Ethiopian coffees are grown in the best conditions, without the use of agricultural chemicals. They are cultivated in the highlands of the Sidamo Province, at altitudes between 1,600 and 2,000 meters above sea level.
Coffee beans grown at this altitude meet the Strictly High Grown (SHG) Strictly Hard Bean (SHB) quality standard. This means that the best Ethiopian coffees, grown on very high plateaus, grow slower and therefore have more time to absorb nutrients and develop more robust flavors according to local climate and soil conditions.
Ethiopia's Sidamo coffees are known for their rich body and complexity, along with their bright and vibrant flavors that are remarkably consistent from year to year, making them a staple for coffee lovers. Ethiopia's Sidamo offers the most subtle aromas and flavors of filter coffee. This very special coffee from Ethiopia will leave a silky smooth taste in your mouth with its rich fruit flavors, distinct rose scent, jasmine flower and bitter chocolate notes.
