Why Consuming Broccoli Sprouts is Beneficial For You

  • Broccoli Sprouting Seeds by Food to Live are a premium quality product. Moreover, our seeds are Kosher, and 100% Raw, thus they're suitable for various diets, including Vegan, Vegetarian, and Pescatarian.
  • Food to Live Broccoli Seeds for Sprouting have a high germination rate, if sprouted correctly. You can use several sprouting methods, depending on the equipment you own. The easiest and most fool-proof method is jar-sprouting (see instructions below). Seeds take 5-7 days to fully sprout.
  • Broccoli Sprouts are Broccoli Seeds that are germinated and harvested during their sprouting stage. They are part of the cruciferous family, although they look similar to microgreens or the more common alfalfa sprouts. These immature broccoli plants are packed full of the same vitamins and minerals as full-grown broccoli but have a sweeter taste and texture similar to microgreens.
  • More specifically, Sprouted Broccoli Seeds are nutrient-dense and excellent sources of vitamins A, B, C, and E. They also contain essential minerals including calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, and zinc. In addition, organic broccoli sprouts contain as much as 35% protein. Broccoli sprouts and all cruciferous vegetables contain the phytochemical sulforaphane. Many studies show that broccoli sprouts have the highest potency of sulforaphane among the cruciferous vegetables.
  • Add Broccoli Sprouts from Food to Live to salads, sandwiches and even smoothies. Use sprouts are a wholesome topping/garnish for grain dishes, hummus, various dips and sauces, fish, seafood, soups, veggie bowls, and more. Sprouts taste best if raw, however some like to fry them as they are reminiscent of cooked spinach.
  • Don't hesitate to shop Premium Quality Broccoli Sprouting Seeds in bulk, as it is a budget-friendly option. Once you start sprouting, you will not stop, it is fun, delicious, and most importantly nutritious.

How to Sprout Seeds in a Jar

how to sprout broccoli seeds tutorialstep two to sprouting seeds by food to livesoaking seeds by food to livedrain water by food to live

1. Day 1: Into a 32 ounce (800 ml) jar, add 2 tbsp of seeds

2. Fill 1/2 jar up with filtered water. Seeds tend to clump up, so you can take a spoon and mix them around a little bit, give them a chance to evenly spread out in the water.

3. Cover jar with a stainless steel sprouting lid (mesh lid), or a cheese cloth secured with a rubber band. Let seeds soak overnight.

4. Day 2: In the morning, without taking off the lid, drain out the soak water. Add fresh filtered water and rinse the seeds twice. Swish the jar around, so all seeds are thoroughly washed.

5. Drain out all water. In order to prevent clumping up, spin the jar around to spread out seeds onto the walls. If the seeds are clumped up together, they might retain extra moisture, which eventually will cause them to rot, that’s why its important to keep them at a single layer.

6. Place jar in a dark place, either a pantry or a kitchen cabinet (at room temp). Jar should be placed upside down at an angle, so the excess water can easily drain out. Use a cup or a bowl to support the jar. In about 6-8 hours, rinse the seeds twice and place them back into a dark place.

7. Days 2-4: Repeat the same process, that is rinsing seeds twice a day and placing them into a dark pantry. Up until this point, the sprouts will be yellow in color. You also might notice white fuzz around your seeds- dont panic, it is not mold! It is celia hairs, indicating that the seeds are thirsty, once rinsed, fuzz will be gone.

Day 5-7: Rinse your seeds twice in the morning, however now you will relocate them onto a fairly lit location (but not under direct sunlight). Sprouts will now green up. Repeat rinse in the evening.

8. Day 8: Harvest time. At this point your jar should be filled up with nice green sprouts. Some seeds will not germinate, it is normal!

Remove sprouts from the jar. You can either give them a bath in a bowl with water, or just shake them so the seeds separate from the sprouts. Enjoy fresh for 5 days, or freeze in zip-bags to later use in a smoothie. Store fresh sprouts in a glass container in a fridge.
