Cetearyl alcohol is a mixture of 50 cetyl alcohol and 50 stearyl alcohol and biodegradable. It emulsifies very weakly, so an O W emulgator is required to stabilize the emulsion. Cetearyl alcohol acts together with an O W emulgator (such as whale ratters and cetyl alcohol) and is therefore entered as a consistency.Compared to cetyl alcohol, formulations with cetearyl alcohol feel more smooth and less dry.
