Rooibos Vanilla (Rooibos Tea with Vanilla)
When it comes to hot drinks, we never stray from tea. Black tea has practically become our national drink. In Turkey, it's hard to find anyone who doesn't even like tea, let alone a tea addict. A well-brewed glass of black tea can be enjoyed at any time of day, in any situation. The fact that we're a society that drinks tea everywhere imaginable is one of the reasons we're one of the world's highest tea-consuming countries.
Tea is the first thing people wake up for in the morning and head to the kitchen to boil water. The family drinks cups of tea at breakfast. This way, we don't just wake up it also warms us up.
There's no specific time or place for us to drink tea. We can drink it while sitting at a desk or standing at work, while traveling on a ferry, when it's offered in shops we visit while shopping, when we come home in the evening and try to unwind, or while chatting and watching television with the family at night. Tea energizes us, relaxes us, clears our minds, and helps us focus better. We can drink hot tea with just about anything. A hot, well-brewed tea goes great with bagels, breakfast, sandwiches, munching on sunflower seeds, or snacking on cakes and cookies.
Despite being a society that drinks so much tea so frequently, we fall short when it comes to quality, varieties, and types of tea. The British, who attach similar meanings to tea, research the type, quality, and origin of tea, and everyone has a different favorite. They enjoy consuming not only black, green, white, and oolong teas, but also herbal teas.

Rooibos is an herbal tea. Green tea, white tea, and oolong tea are all prepared from the same plant as black tea. The different flavors and appearances of these teas are determined by their harvest times and processing methods. Some are oxidized, while others are sun-dried. Rooibos, on the other hand, is a completely different plant. Grown in South Africa, Rooibos is pronounced Roy-bos or Roy-bus. It means Redbush, meaning red bush. This truly red plant, once processed and brewed, imparts a striking red color to hot water. Its flavor is light and fruity, with a subtle hint of natural sweetness.
.
Rooibos is a low-tannin tea. This means that no matter how long you steep it, it won't develop a bitter taste like other teas. The mild flavor of Rooibos allows you to steep it for as long as you like.
Brewing Rooibos tea is quite easy as long as you follow a few tips. First, boil your water. The ideal temperature should be between 95-100 degrees Celsius. Waiting one minute after boiling the water will be sufficient.
Pour 250 milliliters of hot water into one teaspoon of Vanilla Rooibos and stir. The water you use should definitely be drinking water and should not be boiled more than once. Each time the water boils, the oxygen level in the water decreases, preventing you from enjoying the best flavors of teas brewed with it. You can steep your Vanilla Rooibos tea for 5-6 minutes, or as long as you like if you prefer it stronger, and serve with sugar or honey.
