Hungarian paprika is the spice of the two and what most people think of when they think of paprika. Paprika is often used as a garnish and to add color to egg and potato dishes. Its spiciness varies depending on the ratio of seeds, skins, and fruit in the ground powder, and other varieties have been developed, including smoked or roasted paprika, which adds a beautifully rounded, slightly smoky flavor to culinary creations. While paprika contains capsaicin, it is one of the milder peppers and is not generally used medicinally.
