Alum

Alum is a sticky, viscous liquid, usually obtained from the bark or sap of trees. It occurs as a natural substance secreted by wounded plants. The properties and composition of alum can vary depending on its source.

Traditionally, alum has been used in the production of waterproof materials and insulation due to its adhesive nature and waterproof properties. It has also been used in medicine to form a protective layer on skin. However, the use of synthetic materials in modern industry has reduced the use of alum.
