Harmala (Peganum Harmala)Harmala (Peganum Harmala) is a medicinal plant. It is a multi-branched plant with single white flowers from the Rutabaga family that grows in the warm regions of Africa, Asia, and America. It is a perennial, herbaceous steppe plant, up to 35 cm tall. Its flowers are greenish-white. Its fruit is a flat, spherical capsule. The seeds contain glycosides called harmaline, harmine, harmalol, and peganine, as well as a red dye. They are also rich in vitamins A and C.The parts of the plant used for medicinal purposes are the seeds. After drying, the harmala seeds can be brewed in boiling water to make tea. They can also be roasted and mixed with honey to eat or drink with water. Harmala herb is also used to produce red dye. It is popularly believed that harmala seeds are beneficial against magic and spells, and burning the harmala seeds is used to ward off the evil eye.

Üzerlik otu kirmizi boya elde etmek için de kullanilmaktadir. Halk rasinda üzerlik otunun sihire ve büyüye karsi faydali olduguna inanilir ve nazara karsi üzerlik tohumu yakilarak kullanilir.
