This is the story of Eezo’s. A father and son duo, inseparable from day one, bound together by blood and a deep love for culinary and food. Originally starting in the granite industry and then leaping over to restaurants and food, their true passion.
Samir migrated from Lebanon in the mid-80's with nothing, due to a horrific civil war that terrorized his home. Being an extraordinary handyman, he entered the granite industry in San Francisco by starting off in a garage. As the years went by, his small business erupted onto a national scale.
Samir enjoyed the success of his granite business for many years until the financial collapse of 2008. After being in the industry for over 25+ years, he officially had to shut his doors. On pondering what to do next, he decided to express his life-long passion for food by opening a traditional organic Lebanese restaurant.
Samir raised his family in the restaurant, where every child had an integral role in the business. His son, Joey, also had a profound love for food and had a knack for sourcing the highest quality ingredients for the restaurant.
Samir and Joey's motto is "What you put in the oven, is what you get out"; the quality of your ingredients dictates the taste of your meal. Because of their obsession with food, they started Eezo's. A project that took them around the Middle East and Mediterranean to source the highest quality ingredients for food fanatics like them. From haggling in the souks of the East to get the finest saffron, from running around the mountains of Lebanon to find the most fertile fields of Za'atar.
Every single gram of Eezo's Super Negin Grade Saffron is the byproduct of handpicking the stigma from close to 1000 Crocin flowers during a SOLE week in the year and must be harvested in the mid morning. The amount of precision is what makes the saffron spice so legendary.
