Drontal Plus XL, for large dogs
The pale yellow tablet contains 175 mg of praziquantel, 504 mg of pyrantel embonate and 525 mg of febantel as active ingredients, as well as filler.
Packaged with 2 tablets in aluminum foil blisters and packed in cardboard boxes.
PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
Drontal Plus has a broad spectrum of anthelmintic action against roundworms, tapeworms and protozoa of the genus Lamblia parasitizing dogs, including Toxocara canis, Toxascaris leonina, Uncinaria stenocephala, Ancylostoma caninum, Trihuris vulpis, Echinococcus multilocularis, Echinococcus granulosis, Taenia spp., Dipylidium caninum, Multiceps multiceps, Mesocestoides spp., Giardia spp.
The mechanism of action of febantel, which is part of the drug, is based on the disruption of glucose transport and microtubular function of the parasite, inhibition of fumarate reductase and ATP synthesis, increased permeability of cell membranes, which leads to impaired muscle innervation, paralysis, death of the parasite and promotes its elimination from the gastrointestinal tract.
Pyrantel embonate has a pronounced nematocidal effect, causing increased permeability of cell membranes, irreversible paralysis and muscle contracture in nematodes, which leads to the death of the parasite and promotes its elimination from the gastrointestinal tract.
Pyrantel embonate and febantel are partially absorbed in the intestine and are excreted from the body mainly with feces within 24 - 48 hours.
The mechanism of action of praziquantel is the depolarization of neuromuscular ganglionic blockers, disruption of glucose transport and microturbular function in cestodes, which leads to impaired muscle innervation, paralysis and death of the parasite.
Praziquantel is rapidly absorbed in the intestine and distributed in internal organs and tissues; excreted from the body in the urine mainly in metabolized form.
INDICATIONS
Prescribed to dogs for prophylactic and therapeutic purposes for nematodosis (toxocariasis, toxascariasis, uncinariasis, ancylostomiasis, trichuriasis) and cestodiasis (taeniasis, echinococcosis, dipylidiasis, diphyllobothriasis, mesocestoidiasis).
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
The drug is administered to dogs individually, a single time at the rate of 1 tablet per 35 kg of animal weight, in the morning feeding with a small amount of food.
Drontal Plus is administered forcibly or given with a piece of meat, sausage or cheese.
Thanks to the flavor additive, the drug is well consumed by dogs.
For therapeutic purposes, animals are dewormed as indicated, for prophylactic purposes - quarterly in a therapeutic dose.
A preliminary fasting diet and the use of laxatives are not required.
For the treatment of giardiasis, the drug is used in the recommended dosages for 3 consecutive days.
The drug is approved for use during lactation.
When deworming dogs, it is recommended to disinfect and disinfest the areas where animals are kept to prevent re-infection.
No special effects of the drug during the first administration or upon its discontinuation have been identified.
SIDE EFFECTS
With correct use and dosage, side effects are generally not observed.
With increased individual sensitivity of the animal to the components of the drug, increased salivation, diarrhea, or vomiting are possible.
These symptoms are short-lived, resolve spontaneously, and do not require the use of medication.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Hypersensitivity to any of the components of the drug.
Do not administer to pregnant bitches during the first two-thirds of pregnancy.
Drontal Plus is not recommended for use in puppies under 2 weeks of age and weighing less than 2 kg.
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS
Drontal Plus is not recommended for use with medications containing piperazine due to possible antagonistic effects.
Drontal Plus is not intended for use in productive animals.

Механизм действия фебантела, входящего в состав лекарственного препарата, основан на нарушении транспорта глюкозы и микротубулярной функции паразита, ингибировании фумаратредуктазы и синтеза АТФ, повышении проницаемости клеточных мембран, что приводит к нарушению мышечной иннервации, параличу, гибели паразита и способствует его элиминации из желудочно-кишечного тракта.
Пирантел эмбонат оказывает выраженное нематодоцидное действие, вызывая повышение проницаемости клеточных мембран, необратимый паралич и контрактуру мышц у нематод, что приводит к гибели паразита и способствует его элиминации из желудочно-кишечного тракта.
Пирантел эмбонат и фебантел частично всасываются в кишечнике и выводятся из организма в основном с фекалиями в течение 24 - 48 часов.
Механизм действия празиквантела заключается в деполяризации нейромышечных ганглиоблокаторов, нарушении транспорта глюкозы и микротурбулярной функции у цестод, что приводит к нарушению мышечной иннервации, параличу и гибели паразита. Празиквантел быстро всасывается в кишечнике и распределяется во внутренних органах и тканях; выводится из организма с мочой в основном в метаболизированной форме.
ПОКАЗАНИЯ
Назначают собакам с профилактической и лечебной целью при нематодозах (токсокароз, токсаскаридоз, унцинариоз, анкилостомоз, трихоцефалез) и цестодозах (тениоз, эхинококкоз, дипилидиоз, дифиллоботриоз, мезоцестоидоз).
ДОЗЫ И СПОСОБ ПРИМЕНЕНИЯ
Препарат применяют собакам индивидуально, однократно из расчета 1 таблетка на 35 кг массы животного, в утреннее кормление с небольшим количеством корма. Дронтал Плюс вводят принудительно или задают с куском мяса, колбасы или сыра. Благодаря вкусовой добавке, препарат хорошо поедается собаками.
С лечебной целью животных дегельминтизируют по показаниям, с профилактической целью – ежеквартально в терапевтической дозе. Предварительной голодной диеты и применения слабительных средств не требуется.
При лечении лямблиоза препарат применяют в рекомендованных дозировках в течение 3-х дней подряд.
Препарат разрешен к применению в период лактации.
При дегельминтизации собак рекомендуется проводить дезинфекцию и дезинвазию мест содержания животных во избежание повторного заражения.
Особенностей действия лекарственного препарата при первом приеме или при его отмене не выявлено.
ПОБОЧНЫЕ ДЕЙСТВИЯ
При правильном использовании и дозировке побочные явления, как правило, не наблюдаются. При повышенной индивидуальной чувствительности животного к компонентам препарата, возможны повышенная саливация, диарея или рвота. Указанные симптомы кратковременны, самопроизвольно исчезают и не требуют применения лекарственных средств.
ПРОТИВОПОКАЗАНИЯ
Повышенная индивидуальная чувствительность к компонентам препарата. Не следует применять щенным сукам первые две трети периода беременности. Не рекомендуется применять Дронтал Плюс щенкам моложе 2-х недельного возраста и массой менее 2 кг.
ОСОБЫЕ УКАЗАНИЯ
Не рекомендуется применять Дронтал Плюс с препаратами, содержащими пиперазин, ввиду возможных антагонистических эффектов.
Дронтал Плюс не предназначен для применения продуктивным животным.
