Should you accelerate the putter through impact?

Pre-Impact

The putter is about to make impact with the ball, but it is slightly off-center. Note the midline of the deck, which is aligned with the sweet spot of the putter. The sweet spot is the area on the putter face that produces the most accurate and consistent results. When the putter strikes the ball in the sweet spot, it will travel in a straight line with the putter's intended direction.

In the image, the putter is slightly to the right of the midline of the deck. This means that the putter is not striking the ball in the sweet spot. As a result, the ball will likely veer to the right of the intended target.

To improve your putting accuracy, it is important to make sure that you are striking the ball in the sweet spot. The Flight Deck Tour has two impact pads that are aligned with the sweet spot of the putter.

Just Post-Impact

When the putter strikes the ball, feedback is received from the toe and heel pads. The goal is to strike the ball so that the pads are hit simultaneously. This assures a square face angle and an accurate direction of putt.

A square face angle is when the putter face is perpendicular to the ground at impact. This is essential for accurate putting, as it ensures that the ball will travel in a straight line. When the toe and heel pads are hit simultaneously, it indicates that the putter face is square at impact.

To improve your putting accuracy, it is important to practice striking the ball so that the toe and heel pads are hit simultaneously. The Flight Deck Tour has two impact pads that are aligned with the sweet spot of the putter.

Correct Finish Position

If the centerlines of the putter and the Flight Deck Tour do not match up when you hold your finish, immediately take another practice stroke to correct this. The goal is to have the centerlines of the putter and the Flight Deck Tour match up, and to have the pads of the Flight Deck Tour hit simultaneously. This will ensure that you are making a solid, square impact with the ball. The goal is "solid - square - impact!"

The Flight Deck Tour, our flagship product, is a great training aid for club face control. The Tour trains impact to be more solid and square to the putting line. Consistent training with the Tour improves putting alignment, contact, and impact face angle position. The feel is instant which makes it a great training tool for putts in the 4-10 ft. range.

What is the Flight Deck Tour and how does it work?

The Flight Deck Tour is an impact trainer for putting. Your putter approaches impact with the ball positioned just 10mm behind two impact pads. The impact pads are set square to the intended line of putt. The impact with the ball and the pads ingrains the feel of a square face angle.

A square face angle at impact means putts start accurately on the intended line. With each stroke, the feel of solid and square impact is ingrained! For best results, we recommend maintaining the square finish position for several seconds flush against the impact pads!

The center line of your putter ideally should line up with the center line on the Flight Deck.

Here are the steps on how to set up the Flight Deck Tour:

Set up the Flight Deck Tour on an outdoor putting green.
Position the Flight Deck Tour 4 to 10 feet from the hole. The Flight Deck Tour should be square to the line of the putt.
Set one golf tee into the hole at the back end of the deck. This will help to anchor the deck in place.
Pivot the deck to the precise line. Make sure that the deck is square to the line of the putt.
Add two additional tees to the side tee holes near each rubber impact pad. Push the tees all the way down so that the deck is flush and firm to the surface.
Warm up by making a few strokes without a ball. Focus on striking the impact pads simultaneously.
Place a golf ball into the furthest back position of the channel. Strike some putts maintaining the follow through position pressed against the rubber pads.
Repeat steps 6-7 until you are comfortable with the feel of a square impact.

Here are some additional tips for using the Flight Deck TOUR:

Make sure that your putter is square to the target line before you start your stroke.
Make sure to keep your head down and your eyes on the ball throughout the stroke.
Pay attention to the feel of the impact. A square impact will feel solid with less recoil and vibration. If not square, there will be more vibration and instability.
Keep your finish position pressed against the rubber pads. This will help you to repeat a square impact.
Start with short putts. Once you have mastered the feel of making a solid, square impact with the ball on short putts, you can gradually increase the distance of your putts.
Focus on making a smooth, controlled stroke. Do not try to force the ball into the hole.
Visualize the ball rolling into the hole. This will help you to stay focused and motivated.
Practice regularly. The more you practice, the better you will become at making a solid, square impact with the ball.
