Huehuetenango is located in the western highlands of Guatemala, on the Mexican border. Huehuetenango is nestled in the Los Cuchumatanes mountain range, known as "La Torre," whose highest point reaches approximately 3,800 meters above sea level. Thanks to the elevation and diverse microclimates of this mountainous region, coffees from Huehuetenango are recognized worldwide for their sharp, bright acidity. One of Guatemala's three non-volcanic coffee-growing regions, Huehuetenango is the highest and driest. Thanks to the dry, warm winds blowing from Mexico's Tehuantepec Plain to the mountains, the region is protected from frost, allowing coffee to be cultivated up to 2,000 meters in Huehuetenango. Cool, moist winds from Cuchumatanes help moderate the temperature, which ranges from 20 to 24 degrees Celsius. This coffee has rich fruit and floral aromas, full of chocolate, lemon, and raspberry.
