Gelmintal drops for cats are a combination antiparasitic drug.

The combination of moxidectin and praziquantel included in the drug provides a broad spectrum of its antiparasitic action, including against larval and mature stages of development of intestinal nematodes, including Ancylostoma tubaeforme, Ancylostoma cati and Toxocara cati, Toxascaris leonina, Uncinaria stenocephala, cestodes (Dipylidium latum, Taenia spp., Echinococcus multilocularis), larval stages of development (microfilariae) Dirofilaria immitis, sarcoptic mites (Notoedres cati, Otodectes cynotis) and fleas (Ctenocephalides felis) parasitizing in cats.

Gelmintal drops are prescribed to cats for therapeutic and prophylactic purposes for intestinal nematodoses (toxocariasis, toxascariasis, uncinariasis, Ankylostomiasis), cestodiasis (taeniasis, dipylidiasis, echinococcosis), entomoses caused by fleas, otodectosis and notoedrosis, and for the prevention of dirofilariasis.

Contraindications to the use of Gelmintal include individual hypersensitivity to the drug's components, including a history of hypersensitivity, and severe renal or hepatic impairment.

Exhausted cats, cats with infectious diseases, kittens under 7 weeks of age, and pregnant or lactating cats should not be treated.

If necessary, treatment of animals weighing less than 1 kg should be carried out after consultation with a veterinarian.

The drug is used for cats by dropwise ("spot-on") application onto dry, intact skin.

Before use, break off the top of the pipette, apply the drug to the animal's skin in places inaccessible for licking - in the neck area at the base of the skull, when treating large animals, apply the contents of the pipettes to the skin in 3-4 points.

The minimum therapeutic dose of the drug for cats is 0.1 ml / kg of animal weight (4 mg / kg praziquantel and 1 mg / kg moxidectin).

To destroy fleas, animals are treated once, to prevent re-infestation - once every 4-6 weeks throughout the entire season of insect activity.

For the treatment of otodectosis (ear scabies), Gelmintal for cats is applied topically once.

During treatment, it is recommended to clear the ear canal of exudate and scabs, and in case of complications such as otitis, prescribe antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory medications.

If necessary, the course of treatment is repeated after 1 month.

For therapeutic purposes for notoedrosis, the drug is administered twice, with an interval of 28 days; for the prevention of possible invasion - 1 time per month.

Treatment of demodicosis is recommended to be carried out comprehensively - with the use of etiotropic, pathogenetic and symptomatic drugs.

For deworming cats with nematodosis and cestodiasis of the gastrointestinal tract, the drug is used for therapeutic purposes once, for prophylactic purposes - once a month.

For the prevention of dirofilariasis in regions unfavorable for the disease, the drug is used in the spring-summer-autumn period: before the start of the flight of mosquitoes and midges (carriers of the pathogen D. Immitis) once, then once a month and the last time in the season no earlier than 1 month after the end of the flight of insects. Gelmintal K does not destroy mature dirofilaria, but reduces the number of microfilariae circulating in the blood, and can be used without fear also to infested animals. The drug should not be applied to wet or damaged skin, and also wash the animal within 4 days after treatment with the drug.

Противопоказанием к применению Гельминтала является индивидуальная повышенная чувствительность кошки к компонентам препарата, в том числе в анамнезе, и выраженные нарушения функции почек и печени. Не подлежат обработке истощенные и больные инфекционными болезнями кошки, котята моложе 7-недельного возраста, а также беременные и лактирующие кошки. Обработку животных массой менее 1 кг при необходимости следует проводить после консультации с ветеринарным врачом.

Препарат применяют кошкам путем капельного («spot-on») нанесения на сухую неповрежденную кожу.

Перед использованием у пипетки отламывают верхнюю часть, препарат наносят животному на кожу в места, недоступные для слизывания - в область шеи у основания черепа, при обработке крупных животных содержимое пипеток наносят на кожу в 3-4 точки.

Минимальная терапевтическая доза препарата для кошек составляет 0,1 мл/кг массы животного (4 мг/кг празиквантела и 1 мг/кг моксидектина).

Для уничтожения блох обработку животных проводят однократно, для предотвращения повторной инфестации - один раз в 4-6 недель на протяжении всего сезона активности насекомых.

Для лечения отодектоза (ушной чесотки) Гельминтал для кошек применяют накожно однократно. В процессе лечения рекомендуется очищать слуховой проход от экссудата и струпьев, а в случае осложнения отитом, назначать противомикробные и противовоспалительные средства. При необходимости курс лечения повторяют через 1 месяц.

С лечебной целью при нотоэдрозе препарат применяют 2-кратно с интервалом 28 дней; в целях профилактики возможной инвазии - 1 раз месяц.Лечение демодекоза рекомендуется проводить комплексно - с применением этиотропных, патогенетических и симптоматических лекарственных средств.Для дегельминтизации кошек при нематодозах и цестодозах желудочно-кишечного тракта препарат применяют с лечебной целью однократно, с профилактической - один раз в месяц.

С целью профилактики дирофиляриоза в неблагополучных по заболеванию регионах препарат применяют в весенне-летне-осенний период: перед началом лёта комаров и москитов (переносчиков возбудителя D.Immitis) однократно, затем один раз в месяц и последний раз в сезоне не ранее, чем за 1 месяц после завершения лёта насекомых.Гельминтал К не уничтожает половозрелых дирофилярий, но снижает количество циркулирующих в крови микрофилярий, и может быть применен без опасений также и инвазированным животным.Препарат не следует наносить на влажную или поврежденную кожу, а также мыть животное в течение 4 суток после обработки препаратом.
