This Japanese green tea is mainly produced in the Shizuoka district, close to the city of Osaka. "Gaba" stands for gamma amino acid and "lang" is the runoff of oolong. Originally, the "National Tea Research Institute" only wanted to discover whether tea has a longer shelf life.
