Gelmintal C is a combination antiparasitic drug. The combination of moxidectin and praziquantel, which are part of the drug, provides a wide spectrum of its antiparasitic action, including against larval and mature stages of development of intestinal nematodes, including Toxocara canis, Toxascaris leonina, Ancylostoma caninum, Uncinaria stenocephala, Trichuris vulpis, larvae of Dirofilaria immitis, cestodes (Echinococcus multilocularis, Dipylidium caninum, Taenia spp), demodectic (Demodex canis) and sarcoptic (Sarcoptes canis, Otodectes cynotis) ticks, fleas (Qenocephalides canis) and lice (Linognatus setosus) parasitizing in dogs.

Gelmintal C is prescribed to dogs For the treatment and prophylaxis of intestinal nematodosis (toxocariasis, toxascariasis, uncinariasis, ancylostomiasis), cestodiasis (taeniasis, dipylidiasis, echinococcosis), entomoses caused by fleas and lice, demodicosis, otodectosis, and sarcoptosis, as well as for the prevention of dirofilariasis. Contraindications to the use of Gelmintal S include individual hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, including a history of hypersensitivity, and severe renal and hepatic impairment. Gelmintal S should not be used in emaciated animals or animals with infectious diseases, puppies under 7 weeks of age, dogs weighing less than 1 kg, or pregnant or lactating female dogs. If necessary, treatment of collie, bobtail, and sheltie puppies (due to the increased sensitivity of these breeds to macrocyclic lactones), as well as pregnant and lactating females, should be carried out after consultation with a veterinarian.

The drug is administered to animals by spot-on application to dry, intact skin. Before use, break off the top of the pipette and, parting the fur, apply the preparation to the animal's skin in areas inaccessible to licking - between the shoulder blades at the base of the neck.

When treating large dogs, apply the pipette contents to the skin in 3-4 points. The minimum therapeutic dose of Gelmintal S is 0.1 ml/kg of animal weight (4 mg/kg praziquantel and 2.5 mg/kg moxidectin, respectively). To kill fleas and lice, animals are treated once; to prevent re-infestation, once every 4-6 weeks throughout the entire insect season. For the treatment of otodectosis (ear mange), the preparation is applied topically once. During treatment, it is recommended to clean the ear canal of exudate and scabs, and in case of otitis complications, prescribe antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory agents. If necessary, the course of treatment is repeated after 1 month.

For therapeutic purposes, for sarcoptosis, Gelmintal S is used 2 times, for demodicosis - 2-4 times with an interval of 28 days; for the prevention of possible invasion - 1 time per month. Treatment of demodicosis is recommended to be carried out in combination with the use of etiotropic, pathogenetic and symptomatic drugs. For deworming animals with nematodosis and cestodiasis of the gastrointestinal tract, the drug is used for therapeutic purposes once, for prophylactic purposes - once a month. For the prevention of dirofilariasis in regions unfavorable for the disease, Gelmintal S is used in the spring-summer-autumn period: before the start of the flight of mosquitoes and midges (carriers of the pathogen D. Immitis) once, then once a month and the last time in the season no earlier than 1 month after the end of the flight of insects. Gelmintal S does not destroy mature dirofilaria, but reduces the number of microfilariae circulating in the blood and can be used without fear also in infested animals. The drug should not be applied to wet or damaged skin and Wash and bathe the animal in water bodies for 4 days after treatment with the drug.

Противопоказанием к применению Гельминтала С является индивидуальная повышенная чувствительность собаки к компонентам препарата, в том числе в анамнезе, и выраженные нарушения функции почек и печени. Гельминтал С не следует применять истощенным и больным инфекционными болезнями животным, щенкам моложе 7-недельного возраста и собакам массой менее 1 кг, а также беременным и лактирующим сукам. При необходимости обработку щенков породы колли, бобтейл и шелти (ввиду повышенной чувствительности собак этих пород к макроциклическим лактонам), а также щенных и кормящих сук следует проводить после консультации с ветеринарным врачом.

Препарат применяют животным путем капельного («spot-on») нанесения на сухую неповрежденную кожу. Перед использованием у пипетки отламывают верхнюю часть и, раздвинув шерсть, наносят препарат животному на кожу в места, недоступные для слизывания - между лопатками у основания шеи.При обработке крупных собак содержимое пипеток наносят на кожу в 3-4 точки.Минимальная терапевтическая доза Гельминтала С составляет 0,1 мл/кг массы животного (соответственно 4 мг/кг празиквантела и 2,5 мг/кг моксидектина).Для уничтожения блох, вшей обработку животных проводят однократно, для предотвращения повторной инфестации - один раз в 4-6 недель на протяжении всего сезона активности насекомых.Для лечения отодектоза (ушной чесотки) препарат применяют накожно однократно. В процессе лечения рекомендуется очищать слуховой проход от экссудата и струпьев, а в случае осложнения отитом, назначать противомикробные и противовоспалительные средства. При необходимости курс лечения повторяют через 1 месяц.С лечебной целью при саркоптозе Гельминтал С применяют 2-кратно, при демодекозе — 2-4-кратно с интервалом 28 дней; в целях профилактики возможной инвазии - 1 раз месяц.Лечение демодекоза рекомендуется проводить комплексно с применением этиотропных, патогенетических и симптоматических лекарственных средств.Для дегельминтизации животных при нематодозах и цестодозах желудочно-кишечного тракта препарат применяют с лечебной целью однократно, с профилактической - один раз в месяц.С целью профилактики дирофиляриоза в неблагополучных по заболеванию регионах Гельминтал С применяют в весенне-летне-осенний период: перед началом лёта комаров и москитов (переносчиков возбудителя D. Immitis) однократно, затем один раз в месяц и последний раз в сезоне не ранее, чем за 1 месяц после завершения лёта насекомых.Гельминтал С не уничтожает половозрелых дирофилярий, но снижает количество циркулирующих в крови микрофилярий и может быть применен без опасений также и инвазированным животным.Препарат не следует наносить на влажную или поврежденную кожу и мыть и купать животное в водоемах в течение 4 суток после обработки препаратом.
