Step 1: sanitize your roller

Disinfect your derma roll by soaking it in 70 percent Trusted Source isopropyl alcohol for about 5 to 10 minutes.

Step 2: wash your face

Thoroughly cleanse your face with a gentle cleanser with a balanced pH. If you are using a dermaroll with needles longer than 0.5mm, be sure to wipe your face with 70 percent isopropyl alcohol before rolling.

STEP 3: APPLY ACTIVE INGREDIENT

Now you apply the desired serum or ampoule, which you would like to work into the skin with the dermaroller. You don't have to wait until the serum is absorbed, you can start needling straight away.

STEP 4: ROLL THE DERMAROLLER

Depending on your skin tolerance and sensitivity, roll 6 to 8 times in one direction and lift the roller after each pass. So roll in one direction. Lift up. To repeat. Lifting the derma roll after each pass prevents the dreaded "marks" that make you look like a cat has scratched your face. By the end of this entire process, you should have rolled over each area 12 to 16 times - 6 to 8 horizontally, 6 to 8 vertically.

Step 5: clean and disinfect your derma roll

Clean your derma roll with dish soap. Create a soapy water mixture in a plastic container, then swivel vigorously around the roller to make sure the roller doesn't touch the sides. The reason we use detergents like dish soap right after rolling is because alcohol doesn't dissolve the proteins found in skin and blood. Re-disinfect your derma roll by soaking it in 70 percent isopropyl alcohol for 10 minutes. Put it back in the bag, kiss it, and keep it in a safe place.

Step 6: resume your basic skin care routine

Use products that focus on hydration, healing, and increasing collagen production to take your results to the next level. The best thing to do after rolling is to use a sheet mask. Follow up derma rolling with a basic skin care regimen. That means no chemical peels or active ingredients such as benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, tretinoin, etc.
