Eggroot is cultivated in the Mediterranean and harvested in the autumn. The roots are then cleaned and peeled. The peeled roots are quickly dried and then shipped to Germany. Eggroots primarily contain mucilage, starch, sugars, and pectin. Eggroot tea is used in natural remedies to prepare it, 1 to 2 teaspoons are added to 250 ml of cold water and stirred occasionally for half an hour. The tea is then dehydrated and gently heated. The eggroot tea is then ready to drink. 3 to 4 cups per day is a good dosage. Eggroots are free of pollutants and have a shelf life of at least 24 months.
