Ground navelwort, also known by its botanical name Centella asiatica , thrives primarily in damp, shady areas in Asian countries such as India and China, as well as in Africa. This perennial creeping plant belongs to the doldrum flower family. It spreads its roots through groundwater and develops small, kidney-shaped green leaves on the water's surface. The medicinal plant can be used to make navelwort tea and nicule powder and is very popular in Ayurveda in India. Nicule herb is also used to treat numerous skin conditions, such as minor burns, skin ulcers, wounds, sunburn, and to prevent scarring. Its effectiveness has been officially recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO).
