Febantel, moderately absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, causes inhibition of tubulin protein synthesis and the process of glucose intake in nematodes, while simultaneously inhibiting fumarate reductase, an enzyme responsible for the energy metabolism of helminths. Pyrantel embonate is very poorly absorbed when administered orally and therefore acts directly on the mucous membrane of the gastrointestinal tract of the affected dog. It blocks neuromuscular transmission in nematodes and causes paralysis of the helminth's muscles, allowing the parasites to be easily eliminated from the host's gastrointestinal tract. Praziquantel is well absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract and exerts a lethal effect on cestodes (tapeworms) by increasing the permeability of the parasite's cell membranes to calcium ions and inhibiting fumarate reductase, which causes spastic contractions of the parasite's muscles, leading to paralysis. Praziquantel is excreted unchanged in the bile. Противопоказанием к применению является повышенная индивидуальная чувствительность животного к компонентам препарата (в том числе в анамнезе) и выраженные нарушения функции почек и печени. Не подлежат дегельминтизации истощенные, больные инфекционными болезнями и массой менее 0,5 кг животные, щенки моложе 3-недельного возраста.
