Calissons are available in a small size, perfect for any occasion. The small size is ideal for enjoying with tea or coffee during a relaxing break. Listed as part of the Living Heritage of the city of Aix-en-Provence, the history of the calisson dates back to the time of King René in the 15th century. Legend has it that the King's confectioner created this treat to delight Queen Jeanne on her wedding day. She named these delicacies "di calin soun" (meaning "they are hugs" in Provençal). Inscrit au Patrimoine vivant de la ville d'Aix-en-Provence, l'histoire du calisson remonte à l'époque du Roy René au XVe siècle. La légende raconte que le confiseur du Roy a réalisé cette friandise pour émerveiller la Reine Jeanne le jour de son mariage. Elle nomma ces délices "di calin soun" (ce sont des câlins en provençal).
