An infusion of thistle leaves is taken for edema and inflammatory bladder conditions. Thistle also has bactericidal and blood-purifying properties. Thistle is considered one of the most effective antitussives, especially when there is an infectious or viral component. An infusion of the leaves is recommended for internal and external use for a number of skin conditions. For external use, the infusion (or decoction) is prepared stronger and used as a wash, lotion, or compress for purulent skin lesions, wounds, and ulcers. Thistle has long been used to treat various neoplasms and as a preventative measure in the postoperative period after cancer surgery. Directions for preparation and use: Pour 1 tablespoon of thistle into a glass of hot boiled water and heat in a water bath for 15 minutes, stirring frequently. Cool, strain, and bring the resulting infusion to 200 ml with boiled water. Take 1 tablespoon 3 times a day.

Настой из листьев татарника принимают при отеках и воспалительных заболеваниях мочевого пузыря. Татарник также обладает бактерицидным и кровоочистительным действием. Татарник считается одним из наиболее эффективных противокашлевых средств, особенно при наличии инфекционной или вирусной составляющей. Рекомендуют употреблять настой из листьев внутрь и наружно при ряде кожных болезней. Для наружного употребления настой (или отвар) готовят более крепким и применяют в виде обмываний, примочек, компрессов при гнойных поражениях кожи, ранах и язвах. Татарник издавна применяется для лечения различных новообразований и с профилактической целью- в послеоперационном периоде после онкологических операций. Способ приготовления и применения 1 ст. ложку заливают стаканом горячей кипяченой воды и нагревают на водяной бане 15 минут при частом помешивании. Охлаждают, отжимают, объем полученного настоя доводят кипяченой водой до 200 мл. Принимают по 1 столовой ложке 3 раза в день.
