Although East Frisia is quite small and sparsely populated, this northwestern region of the Republic boasts the highest tea consumption, at over 2 kg per capita per year on average. Due to this high demand, large quantities of the finest teas arrive there annually, primarily from Assam, to be processed into noble and refined blends. The predominantly robust and delightfully malty qualities are traditionally enjoyed with kluntje-kandis and a shot of cream (clouds).
