Why do white marks appear on the skin?

Skin pigmentation is connected to the production of Melanin, the pigment responsible for the color not only of the skin, but also of the hair and the iris in the eyes. Melanin, in particular, is produced by melanocytes, cells that are present in the cutaneous tissues and annexes. If melanocytes don’t work correctly, producing a lower amount of Melanin, the skin displays areas lighter than the natural color of the skin. The white marks on the skin can be more or less extended, show more or less defined contours and typically appear on the face, neck, hands, legs and the back.

What causes the White Marks on the Skin?

The main conditions which cause localized hypopigmentation are:

Vitiligo: a skin disorder characterized by a reduced presence or total absence of Melanin in some parts of the skin, caused by an abnormal response of the immune system which attacks by mistake the melanocytes, altering their ability to produce skin pigment.
Pitiriasi Versicolor: an infection caused by fungi which block the production of melanin in the affected areas and might leave white marks.
Pitiriasi Alba: a disorder which affects the skin pigmentation and whose distinctive features are white marks in round shape, blurred edges and possible desquamation at their center.
Idiopathic Guttate Hypomelanosis: small white marks particularly concentrated on forearms and legs in elderly people, and whose main cause is the aging of the skin.

Repigma Lycomplex is a Natural Aid to Support the Normal Pigmentation of the Skin.

A Multinutrient and Multivitamin Complex based on L-Phenylalanine and PABA, to support the synthesis of Melanin, together with Copper, a mineral essential to the health of skin and cutaneous annexes.

Essential amino acid found in most animal and vegetable proteins and which must be supplemented through the alimentation because the human body is unable to synthesize it. Over the years, numerous clinical studies have demonstrated that L-Phenylalanine can support the treatment of vitiligo and the results have shown, in particular, that L-Phenylalanine in dosage up to 100 mg/kg/die has improved the condition of vitiligo in 200 subjects when combined with UVA/sun exposure.

PABA (Para-Aminobenzoic Acid)

Commonly known as Vitamin B10 due to its importance in the synthesis of Folic Acid.

PABA is an amino acid which works by supporting the synthesis of Melanin from Hydroxyphenylalanine, and its deficiency can lead to vitiligo, white hair, sclerodermia and itching. Its action supports the rebalance of the pigmentation and, therefore, a significant improvement of the aesthetic of the depigmented skin. Scientific Trials have demonstrated that PABA supplementation has a noticeable anty-gray effect, so it can help counteract the loss of pigmentation in the hair.
