Utengule Estate, located in the southern highlands of Tanzania, is renowned for producing some of the finest coffee beans in Africa. What distinguishes Tanzanian Utengule coffee is its meticulous production process. It is cultivated at altitudes of up to 2,000 meters above sea level, where the cool climate and rich volcanic soil create the perfect conditions for coffee cultivation. The cherries are hand-picked by local farmers, ensuring only the ripest cherries are selected.

Utengule is one of the finest coffees in the world, with typical export markets being Europe, Japan, and the United States. Utengule cultivates traditional Arabica varieties of Bourbon origin, primarily in mixed shade. Thanks to sustainable farming practices, the soil remains very fertile despite 100 years of coffee cultivation.
After harvesting, the beans undergo a rigorous sorting process to remove any potential defects. They are then washed and sun-dried, a process that enhances the coffee's natural flavors and aromas. The beans are graded by size and quality grade AA is the highest, indicating that the larger beans are free of defects.
The coffee is known for its medium- to full-bodied flavor, bright acidity, and rich, wine-like notes. It has a smooth, velvety texture and a long, lingering finish that will delight even the most discerning coffee connoisseur. It is recognized for its exceptional quality and unique flavor profile.
This coffee is 0 Bourbon and is grown at an altitude of 1,500 meters above sea level. Approximately 500 hectares of the estate are cultivated, while the remainder is a nature reserve rich in both flora and fauna and a habitat for over 150 bird species. Some of the coffee trees planted on the estate are genuine Bourbon, originating from the island of Bourbon (now known as La Réunion) in the Indian Ocean. Today, 80 years later, they continue to produce quality coffee. However, it is generally accepted that coffee trees become economically unprofitable when they reach 20-25 years of age.
When brewing this special coffee, you can choose pour-over brewing methods such as Filter Coffee Machines, Chemex, or V60. Medium-ground coffee allows you to obtain a delicious cup of coffee with these brewing methods. Its roasting profile is also suitable for filter coffee brewing. It can be brewed using different brewing methods depending on coffee enthusiasts' preferences. However, it must be ground according to your machine and equipment.
