Need the perfect dessert for any occasion? This recipe makes tasty brownies that everyone will enjoy. You will need: ½ cup shortening, 2 cups firmly packed brown sugar, 2 eggs, 2 teaspoons vanilla, 1 cup whole wheat flour, ½ cup ORIGINAL MALT-O-MEAL (dry), 2 teaspoons baking soda, ½ teaspoon salt, and 1 cup chopped nuts. To begin, pre-heat the oven to 350°F. In a 2-quart saucepan, heat shortening over low heat until melted, and then remove from heat. Mix in brown sugar, eggs and vanilla. Next, in a large bowl, combine flour, cereal, baking soda, salt and nuts. Add shortening mixture and mix well. Spread into a lightly greased 13X9-inch pan. Bake for 20-25 minutes. Let the brownies cool and then cut into squares. This recipe makes 24 bars so there will be plenty for all to enjoy!
