The LMIV (Federal Law on Foodstuffs) introduced, among other things, mandatory information regarding the declaration of the seam value, instructions for use, and information on the country of origin of goods imported from abroad. This information must appear on all prepackaged foodstuffs, even if they are intended for further processing (for the definition of "prepackaged foodstuffs," see Art. 2, para. 2, e, LMIV). Before the LMIV came into force, this information only had to be declared on packaging intended for the final consumer. The labeling requirements of the LMIV are also essentially mandatory for non-prepackaged foodstuffs (so-called "bulk products"), with some exceptions. For example, these products are exempt from the nutritional labeling requirement. Food information is primarily the responsibility of the food business operator under whose name or company the food is marketed or, if not established in the EU, of the importer. According to Article 8, paragraph 3 of the Food Information Act (LMIV), this second obligation also applies to food business operators at other stages of distribution, as they are not permitted to place on the market food that does not meet the requirements of the LMIV. The food information required under the LMIV must be displayed on food packaging or on a label attached to it. Furthermore, the mandatory information must be written in language easily understood by consumers in the Member State where the food is marketed. In Germany, the labeling must be in German (compare Section 2 of the LMIV). For products with a foreign declaration, this means they must have an additional label in the form of a sticker containing the information in German. Additional labeling is unnecessary if the product is printed in multiple languages and the German marking meets the requirements of the German Federal Law on Consumer Protection (LMIV). Ces informations doivent figurer sur tous les denrées alimentaires préemballées, même si elles sont destinées à être transformées (pour la définition des «aliments préemballés», voir l'art. 2 Abs. 2 Ref. e LMIV). Avant l'entrée en vigueur de la LMIV, ces informations ne devaient être déclarées que sur les emballages destinés au consommateur final. Les obligations d'étiquetage de la LMIV sont également essentiellement obligatoires pour les aliments non préemballés (dits «produits en vrac»), avec certaines exceptions à cet égard. Par exemple, ces produits suppriment l'obligation d'étiquetage nutritionnel. L'information sur les denrées alimentaires relève en premier lieu de la responsabilité de l'exploitant du secteur alimentaire sous le nom ou la société duquel la denrée alimentaire est commercialisée ou, si elle n'est pas établie dans l'UE, de l'importateur. Selon l'art. 8 Le paragraphe 3 de la LMIV occupe également la deuxième obligation pour les exploitants du secteur alimentaire des autres stades de la distribution, car ils ne sont pas autorisés à mettre sur le marché des denrées alimentaires qui ne répondent pas aux exigences de la LMIV. Les informations relatives aux denrées alimentaires obligatoires en vertu de la LMIV doivent être apposées sur les emballages alimentaires ou sur une étiquette attachée à celui-ci. En outre, les indications obligatoires doivent être rédigées dans un «langage facile à comprendre» par les consommateurs de l'État membre dans lequel une denrée alimentaire est commercialisée. En Allemagne, l'étiquetage doit être effectué en allemand (comparez 2 LMIDV). Pour les produits avec déclaration étrangère, cela signifie qu'ils doivent être munis d'une étiquette supplémentaire sous la forme d'un autocollant contenant les informations en langue allemande. Un étiquetage supplémentaire est inutile si le produit est imprimé en plusieurs langues et que le marquage allemand répond aux exigences de la LMIV.
