What is safflower seed?
The safflower plant, which we've been hearing about frequently lately, is known as false saffron because it blooms in midsummer and is generally yellow in color. It's a type of oil obtained from the seeds of the safflower plant. While it's most commonly used today for weight loss, it's also used to treat many health problems. Safflower seed oil is used in cooking as an alternative to sunflower and olive oil. Safflower is widely grown in Southern Asia.
