The Dominican Republic has been a coffee producer since the 18th century. Coffee is grown on the slopes of the mountain range that runs from west to east through the central part of the island. The best production area is the southwest of the country, in the Barahona region, where plantations are located at an altitude of 700–1,300 meters above sea level. The trees are protected from the scorching sun by the crowns of their nut and fruit trees. Coffee from the Barahona region is distinguished by its intense aroma and rich, acidic flavor with notes of walnuts, dried fruit, and Cuban tobacco. Its characteristics are very similar to Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee.

Доминиканская республика – производитель кофе с XVIII века. Кофе выращивают на склонах горного хребта, что проходит с запада на восток по центральной части острова. Лучший район для производства – юго-запад страны, район Бараона, высота расположения плантаций 700–1300 метров над уровнем моря. Деревья защищены кронами ореховых и фруктовых собратьев от палящего солнца. Кофе из района Бараона отличают интенсивный аромат, богатый вкус с кислинкой и нотами грецких орехов, сухофруктов и кубинского табака. По своим характеристикам очень близок с кофе Ямайка Блю Маунтин.
