Nish Filter Coffee Indonesia Java 1000 gr
The history of coffee in Indonesia dates back to 1699, when Arabica coffee arrived on the shores of Java. Today, the island's name is almost always associated with coffee. While the majority of the region's production has historically been Robusta coffee, Indonesian farms and exporters have received global demand for Arabica and have sought to channel it as much as possible. Java now produces high-quality specialty coffees, and the state-owned Blawan farm cultivates premium coffee beans for export.
Almost all of Java's Arabica coffee is produced on five large state-owned farms. These farms, all located at approximately 1,300 meters on the Ijen Plateau, are: Blawan (Belawan, Blauan), Jampit (Djampit), Pancoer (Pancur), Kayumas, and Tugosari. These farms were established over 100 years ago, when the country was still a Dutch colony. After Indonesia gained independence after World War I, the government established a unit called PTP to revitalize and manage its extensive Arabica plantations. These plantations account for 85 of Java's total coffee production. Blawan plantations alone produce 1,500 tons of green coffee annually.
Coffees from nationalized PTP plantations (especially Blawan and Jampit plantations) are grown at higher altitudes and are characterized by their unique microclimate, rich volcanic soil, and processing methods. The coffees grown on PTP plantations in Java, including this one from Blawan, are fully washed, a rare feature in Indonesia. The result is a superb, full-bodied coffee.
This pleasantly flavorful, full-bodied coffee, with notes of elderflower and blackcurrant, is a good choice for espresso and also works well in filter coffees.
