Flaxseed is a plant native to the Middle East and India, cultivated since primitive times. Used for 30,000 years, the flax plant has a unique history, though only its fibers have a unique history. Growing to a height of approximately 150 cm, the flax plant produces round fruits containing seeds. Flaxseed oil can be found in many forms, including capsules, whole and shelled seeds, as well as in bread, muesli, muffins, and breakfast bars. Containing omega-3s, vitamins, and many other essential nutrients, flaxseed is a highly nutritious food. It can be added to salads or mixed with honey.
