Anti-inflammatory

Knusel et al. Compared the effects of ibuprofen and Arnica in patients with osteoarthritis of the hand and found that Arnica had pain management activity comparable to ibuprofen.

Wound healing, edema, ecchymosis

Arnica montana is more effective than placebo when used in the treatment of a variety of conditions including post-traumatic and post-operative pain, edema, and ecchymosis.

Bruising

Topical arnica ointment may reduce bruising more effectively than placebo and more effectively than lower concentration vitamin K formulations such as 0.3 retinol and 1 vitamin K.

History Origin:

Arnica montana is a yellow-flowered plant in the Asteraceae family. It grows at high altitudes (1200 to 2800 meters) in Central and Eastern Europe (as far as Siberia) as well as in France. It thrives in poor and flint-rich soils. Arnica has a long history in herbalism and has been used for centuries.

From an aromatherapy perspective:

The oil obtained by maceration of arnica flowers in olive oil has strong anti-inflammatory, anti-ecchymosis, anodyne, cicatrizant effects. It is used in cases of impact, bruising, bleeding, hematomas, ecchymosis, swelling, muscle and joint pain, sprains, rheumatism, mouth and throat inflammations (bronchitis, odontectomy etc.), superficial phlebitis, varicose veins, heavy leg syndrome.

Arnica montana, Asteraceae familyasindan sari çiçekli bir bitkidir. Fransa'da oldugu kadar, Orta ve Dogu Avrupa'da (Sibirya'ya kadar) yüksek rakimlarda (1200 ila 2800 metre arasinda) yetisir. Çakmaktasi içeren ve fakir topraklarda yetisir. Arnica, bitkicilik alaninda köklü bir geçmise sahiptir ve yüzyillardir kullanilmaktadir.
