If you want to buy whole bean coffee and grind it in your own automatic grinder, a 10-11 degree grind is required for a French Press, while a 8-9 degree grind is suitable for a Filter Coffee Machine. A 9-9.5 degree grind is ideal for the V60, Chemex, and other manual brewing methods.
