Key Benefits

♨️ Soak overnight — Sort and rinse, then add 1 part beans to 3 parts water and soak overnight.
⏲️ Cooking time — Drain soaked beans, cover with fresh water or stock at 1:3 ratio, bring to boil, reduce and simmer 1-2 hours until tender.
🔧 Texture control — Test frequently during cooking and determine tenderness based on intended use—firm for salads or longer recipes; very soft if puréeing or mashing.
💚 Nutrient retention — Cold soaked and cooked at gentle simmer, beans retain most of their nutrients.

Common Questions

How do I prepare black soybeans?

Sort and rinse. Add 1 part beans to 3 parts water and soak overnight. Drain well, cover with fresh water or stock at 1:3 ratio, bring to boil, reduce and simmer 1-2 hours until tender.

What texture should they be?

Cook beans to firm stage for salads, freezing and longer-cooking recipes. Cook until very soft if you plan to purée or mash them.

Do they lose nutrients during cooking?

When cold soaked and cooked at a very gentle simmer, beans should retain most of their nutrients.
