Saline solution has the same salt content as the human body (0.9%) - this is called a physiological (or isotonic) saline solution. Note: The proper salt/water ratio of the saline solution is very important. If too much salt is used (hypertonic), slight stinging may be felt. In some cases, this may be desirable in order to shrink/reduce the swelling of the mucous membranes - but this may also dry them out if used for an extended period of time. If less than the prescribed amount of salt is used (hypotonic), a stinging sensation may also be felt and it may swell the mucous membranes. This is not desirable, as you may feel somewhat more congested than you did prior to rinsing.
Use distilled, sterilized or filtered tap water (use a filter with an absolute pore size of 1 micron or smaller) to mix the salt. Once mixed, use the saline within 24 hours or discard.
Nasaline Saline Solution Salt is 99.99% highly purified sodium chloride, free of additives, preservatives and anti-caking agents. It can be purchased in 12 ounce (136+ scoops) and 24 ounce pouches (275+ scoops). Each pouch contains a two-sided measuring spoon.
Nasaline Saline Solution can be used in all nasal rinsing devices such as squeeze bottles, neti pots and nasal syringes. We recommend using Nasaline Saline Solution Salt to prevent possible allergic reactions that one might develop from the iodine in store bought iodized salt or from the algae sometimes found in sea salts.
Uses: For use with nasal rinsing devices such as squeeze bottles, net pots and nasal syringes.
Mix 1/2 tsp./2.5g in 1 cup (8 oz/250 ml) of warm distilled or sterilized water. For a Hypertonic solution, use 1 tsp./5g - or 2 scoops.
Do not use unfiltered tap water for sinus/nasal irrigation. Use distilled, sterilized, or filtered tap water (using a filter with an absolute pore size of 1 micron or smaller). Once mixed, use the saline solution within 24 hours or discard.
Sodium chloride (USP 99.99%)
Before use, consult your physician if you have any ear or sinus conditions. Do not irrigate nose if nasal passages are completely blocked or if you have an acute or new ear infection. Discontinue us if you experience pressure in the ears.
Inspect the pouch for integrity. Store in dry place. If clumping occurs, gently squeeze salt on outside of pouch.
