Flax Plant:
The flax plant can grow to a length of 15–60 cm. Cultivated for its seed and fiber, the plant has natural and cultivated forms. The leaves are stemless, grayish-green, and arranged on an upright or flat stem. It is a plant that blooms silky, bluish or yellow flowers between June and August. The chemical structure of flax consists of 80 cellulose, 3 pectin and 10 water.
Flax can grow in all types of soil. Fiber flax likes humid weather, while oil flax likes sunny weather. In Anatolia, flax is planted as summer and autumn. Winter flax is planted in August-September, while summer flax is planted in March and April. The long ones of fiber flax are desirable and grow in fertile soil. While oil flax is collected after it has fully matured, fiber flax is collected before it has matured.
Flax is one of the oldest cultivated plants. Flax has been grown for its fiber and seeds in the Near East and Mediterranean regions for 4000-5000 years it is produced in many parts of the world. It is understood from the paintings made on temples and tombs that flax was grown in Egypt in the 4th century BC. In the world, Russia ranks first in flax production and Poland ranks second. Some types of flax grow naturally in Turkey. In Türkiye, it is mostly in Anatolia, including the West, Central Anatolia and the Black Sea.
The Importance of Cold Pressing Method in Vegetable Oils:
Flaxseed contains 40-45 oil and is used to obtain oil. Flaxseed oil, despite being a plant-based food, is rich in B12 and omega-3. It contains alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), a plant-based omega-3 fatty acid.
The seeds from which the oil is extracted are used as animal feed.
For these reasons, the first priority in vegetable oil production is to minimize the loss of beneficial content. In the cold pressing method, no heat treatment is applied, only physical processing is applied, so there is no loss of content.
The compounds such as antioxidants, phenolic compounds, phosphatides, carotenoids and phytosterols in the oils obtained with this method can be prepared for use without undergoing any changes. Thus, in cases where the human body cannot produce itself or when supplementation is required due to the scarcity of some substances, the safest source we can resort to is the oils obtained by the cold pressing method.
As Tayf Herbal, our own oils do not undergo any chemical processes such as coloring, acid removal, deodorization addition. No dilution-mixing process is done. After the seed is put into the cold pressing machine, we bottle whatever it gives us and send it to you.
