В народной медицине траву горца почечуйного используют наружно в качестве хорошего обезболивающего и противовоспалительного средства. Применяют ее в виде припарок и ванн при геморрое и ревматизме. В медицинской практике трава используется в виде настоя и жидкого экстракта при лечении геморроя и при маточных кровотечениях. Нередко ее применяют также в качестве слабительного средства при атонических спастических запорах. Отмечено также мочегонное действие препарата. В урологии траву горца применяют как кровоостанавливающее, противовоспалительное и болеутоляющее средство при циститах с гематурией и пиурией, при раке мочевого пузыря (симптоматическое лечение).
