Origin - Yunnan, China

Home to Puer teas, Yunnan is credited as the birthplace of tea and known for its ethnic diversity, festivals and mountainous landscape.

Puer Tea

Originating more than 1,700 years ago from the small village of Puer in Southern Yunnan, Puer teas are known for their earthy flavor profiles, ability to age and processing shapes (round cakes, bricks and small bowls).

Tuocha

The Tuocha refers to a family of bowl shapes teas, commonly available as Green, Black, Scented or Puer Tuocha. There are many sizes made and this one is known as Mini Tuocha or Xiao Tuocha. Each Tuocha is wrapped in cotton paper for convenience in storing and tea preparation.

Technique

Mature leaves are selected in summer, gently roasted, sun-dried, steamed, and then shaped into small bowls. During the process, the leaves maintain a fair amount of moisture and a natural fermentation occurs that darkens their color.

Flavor Profile

Earthy aroma, dark, sweet, smooth brew that gains no bitterness and is ideal to pair with savory foods.

The Tao of Tea

Like the Tao, the art of tea is universal. We began our work serving as a connecting thread for tea cultured in 1997. Practicing this art on a daily basis in our teahouses in Portland, Oregon, we are a group of tea enthusiasts from different backgrounds and cultures. We travel, learn, take delight and seek to offer pure leaf teas with great flavor, artistry and soul.

Suggested Use

Brewing

Unwrap the cotton paper on Tuocha and brew in eight ounces water at 190F for five minutes.

Provides at least three re-infusions.

Other Ingredients

Organic puer tea leaves.
