How to Use a Gua Sha Stone - A 10 Step Guide 1. Store your Gua Sha in the fridge: Refrigerating your Gua Sha reduces inflammation, swelling and puffiness. 2. Grab your favourite serum, oil or moisturiser: Apply just enough so that the tool can slide over the skin smoothly. Always apply a light to medium pressure. 3. The Back: Using the top of the Gua Sha, or ‘top of the love heart’, drag the Gua Sha up the back of the neck. When you reach the hairline, press more firmly into the areas which feel most tense. 4. The Neck: Using the inward curve side of the Gua Sha, sweep up the side of the neck from the collarbone to the jawline. When you reach the jawline use short, sharp pressing motions. 5. The Throat: Use the top of the Gua Sha to massage the throat, applying light pressure. Start in between the collarbones and sweep upwards following the curve of the neck. 6. The Jaw: Use the top of the Gua Sha on its side with your jawline nested in the heart shape. Make sweeping motions across the jawline. Start at the chin moving the tool upwards towards the ear. 7. The Cheeks: Using the inward curve side of the Gua Sha, massage the cheekbones starting to the side of the nose dragging the tool upwards towards the hairline, following the contours of the cheekbones. 8. The Eyes: Using the longest curve of the love heart shape, massage the area under the eye by placing the Gua Sha against the inner corner of the eye and sweeping outwards towards the hairline. 9. The Eyebrows: Placing the shorter curve of the love heart shape underneath the eyebrow and the longer curve above the eyebrow, sweep the Gua Sha towards the hairline following the shape of the eyes. 10. The Forehead: Using the inward curve side of the Gua Sha, pull the Gua Sha upwards from just above the eyebrow towards the top of the forehead.
