Plastic materials, previously produced only from petroleum derivatives, can now be produced from sugarcane. Contributions of plastics produced without petroleum to the environment:
- They are sustainable products they do not deplete the world's limited petroleum resources, ensuring their preservation for future generations.
- During plastic production, carbon is not released into the atmosphere on the contrary, it is absorbed from the atmosphere. This reduces global warming. (For every 1 kg of plastic produced, 2 kg is absorbed instead of 3 kg of emissions.)
- Nature is not destroyed as in oil production, forests are not destroyed for sugar cane production, and unused agricultural land is rehabilitated and put to use.
- Farmers are paid fairly during sugar cane production.
