Things have a way of feeling instantly better after a good brew. We've come a long way since we jumped out of the kettle and brewed our first pot of Yorkshire tea in the 70s. Who would have thought back then that we would go on to make one of Britain's favorite breweries? The story of Taylors of Harrogate goes back much further than the 1970s. In fact, it all began in Victorian times when, in 1886, Charles Edward Taylor and his brother Llewellyn – sons of a pea merchant and a York grocer – established the tea and coffee import business, C.E. Taylor Co. The two brothers trained at London's renowned Ashby's Tea, where they also purchased their teas and coffees at auction. Llewellyn eventually became a sleeper partner, but Charles quickly grasped the idea of opening tea and coffee tasting rooms in the burgeoning and fashionable spa towns of Harrogate and Ilkley.
