Evening primrose is a plant that grows in parts of Europe and Asia and is native to North and South America. It has yellow flowers that open at sunset and close during the day. Oil from the seeds of the evening primrose is extracted and used to make medicine.

Evening primrose oil is derived from the seeds of the evening primrose (Oenothera Bennis) plant. It has a multitude of uses and is widely available in supplement form. The oil is a rich source of omega-6 essential fatty acids. Evening primrose oil contains linoleic acid and Gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) — both essential components of myelin, the protective coating around nerve fibers and neuronal cell membranes. Evening primrose oil is often taken as a supplement or applied topically. Evening primrose oil also contains polyphenols. It is known for its hormone-balancing, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties.

How to use carrier oils

Hair- While your hair is dry, massage a few drops of the oil into your hair. This will create shine and dampen frizz for a smooth, silky texture. For a longer-lasting treatment, including on your scalp, you can massage the oil of your choice into your hair and leave it on overnight. Once done, rinse your hair and see the results!

Mixing carrier oils together allows you to create an oil that best meets your skin's needs. You'll want to aim for your blend to contain a balanced blend of highly moisturizing, non-drying, and non-drying oils, along with any additional healing properties you're looking for.
